On the last Saturday, the 18th of April, the young artist Katharina Reich was presenting her creative works at the hip shop w?atf (Siebensterngasse 52, 1070). Next to the wash- machines, which are by the way a permanent exhibit of the shop, Katharina and her label “Raumrausch” were present in full power. Katharina’s philosophy- use what you have. I guess with this philosophy she cannot go wrong, as her collection of jewelery and accessories is creative, surprising and simply said- very very cool.

Rings which were once paper packages, earings which were cd’s or coke’s lids and necklaces made out of wheels are just a small taste of her creations.

Katharina is fascinated and driven by working with each material and finding out its qualities, the way it reacts and its new and endless functions.

Another fun part of the exhibition was the “walking gallery” (See above pic). The real-life models gave a full presentation to the accessories by wearing them in all different variations. Check out the spoon clip below!

In den Schmuckarbeiten von Katharina Reich werden vorhandene Gebrauchsgegenstände durch Umarbeitungen einer neuen Benutzbarkeit zugeführt. Asiatischen Getränkedosen werden zu fischförmigen Ohrsteckern verwoben. Einfache Teelöffel werden zu Ringen. Radschleuche erhalten eine neue Funktion als Kette und werden mit Perlen veredelt.
