The fashion industry covers a vast range of activities and professions and gains many peoples interest. But how do you manage to actually work in fashion? Attending a fashion school or the like isn’t a wrong way, of course, but definitely not the only one. Most important is to be creative, have your own indiviual sense of fashion and style, fresh ideas and, certainly, you need the guts and the volition to really go ahead with what you wanna reach and you do need to work hard for it.
This is exactly what our „Newcomers“ at MODEPALAST are proving again this year. Whether it’s the girls of „Two T’s“ who attended Vienna’s most prestigious fashion school „Schloss Hetzendorf“ and now getting props all over the world for their flamboyant collar designs (which are even sold in Tokyo and Tel Aviv!); or the „Madams With A Mission“, who actually have their roots in theatrical arts and multi-media design, which doesn’t stop them from creating extraodinary but still elegant fashion for women of all ages, true to their own motto „KISS! – Keep It Simple and Sophisticated!“

Though not only Austria comes up trumps with their young fashion talents, but also our neighbours don’t have any need to hide. As for instance the Budapest-based Russian footwear designer Anna Zaboeva, whose label „Pleasemachine – peculiar footwear“ features colorful handmade shoes, manufactured mainly from recycled materials found on the streets of Budapest.

At this juncture a big shout-out for „creativespace“, for doing a great job supporting Vienna’s design-scene and making it possible for our „Newcomers“ to represent themselves at MODEPALAST 2011.
