There was a large crowd on the occasion of the very first MODEPALAST Linz, which drew to an end on Sunday night. The enormous bandwidth of the presented collections created by 50 designers won over the Linzers and Upper Austrians and delighted more than 2000 visitors. They could convince themselves really up close of the the designers’ creativity and quality and buy fashion on the spot and directly from its creators. The designers, in turn, gave the MODEPALAST visitors only the very best reference. Felizitas Auerberg from the label Piratin said: “Never before I have seen so many stylish 60+ ladies who are, not least, so enthusiastic and curious.” And Ulli Kogelmüller from the label ulliKo was happy: With their positive feedback, their open-mindedness and friendliness the Linzers have given me back so much.

At the opening night on Friday, Genevova Rückert from the OÖ Kulturquartier as well as the two MODEPALAST business managers Jasmin Ladenhaufen and Cloed Baumgartner welcomed numerous guests interested in art and culture.
The members of the Leonfeldner Kantorei choire, dressed as models, were admired by Martin Sturm, head of the OÖ Kulturquartier and Christine Dollhofer from the „crossing europe“ festival. Also Susanne Wegscheider, Linz’ councilwoman, who was very inspired by this years’ MODEPALAST in Linz, endorsed that Linz was a perfect location for the creative industries.
KIDS IN FASHION, as part of the MODEPALAST programme, was appreciated by around 50 kids. They designed their own models on little silhouettes. The results were well worth seeing and very creative.
The exhibition of Daniela Karlinger’s MIRROR DRESS in the chapel at the OK Platz, turned out to be a real crowd puller. To put a dress that was already worn by music icon Lady Gaga playfully in a sacred room was very harmonious and stimulating.
Saturday night was a night full of celebration and the new purchased dresses were worn for the first time at the MODEPALAST IS DANCING! Party at the OK Mediendeck. In the background Ken Hayakawa and Stephan Höllermann were in charge of the right sound to accompany an unforgetful night.
Luckily, MODEPALAST Vienna still lies ahead of us! May 4-6 at the MAK Vienna.
