Wiener Geflecht by __fabrics interseason for Mühlbauer
For the Vienna-based Mühlbauer headwear company, __fabrics interseason (Wally Salner and Johannes Schweiger) developed a collection of hats of Viennese canework, which exemplifies their typical approach in the interface between fashion and interior design.
Aesthetic competence and contextual know-how are essential prerequisites for their concept of dominant design which is not about superficial codes and brand recognition, but about contents and life in and under the surface structure and about a critical approach to fashion.

“Thus the beautiful Viennese canework, well-known from the seat of a Thonet chair classic, is shaped into hats. … What comes out is an ironical revaluation of surfaces; what once was furniture becomes a hat, and in turn the headwear becomes space-defining,” writes art critic Brigitte Felderer.

Since last year, Wally Salner and Johannes Schweiger have also been Directors of Studies of the Bachelor Program of the Vienna Fashion School at Schloss Hetzendorf.

Following her “artone” ball chains made of fabrics with pattern graphics by Tone Fink, we now present her new and unique Beautiful Bags of exceptionally attractive silk scarves, each a one-of-a-kind piece for people of discriminating taste.
An exclusive collection of colorful silk scarves (foulards) makes the basic material for these superbly finished bags. Each color combination for each pattern line occurs only once so that every wearer made pride her own unique collector’s item.

MODEPALAST 2010 celebrates its premiere at the MAK – Austrian Museum of Applied Arts/Contemporary Art, Vienna.
With the spatial change MODEPALAST (fashion palace) satisfies the demand for more area and a wider range. “The new location MAK with its good international positioning perfectly suit our new goals”, say Cloed Baumgartner and Jasmin Ladenhaufen, the two organisers. “The relocation gives us the opportunity to rethink the event unconventionally on a larger area and with an even stronger international network. naturally, more exhibitors, partners and programme lines now find a place under the palace roof.“

From April 23 to 25, MODEPALAST 2010 presents the current collections of ladies’ and men’s fashion by Austrian designers and international newcomers as well as a broad selection of jewellery and accessory design. In celebration of its eight edition, the established fashion and lifestyle event introduces the new focus MODEPALAST GREEN. MODEPALAST GREEN shows a strong selection of visionary design that is marked by its green, fair approach and style. The aim of MODEPALAST GREEN is the concolidation of the consciousness for sustainable consumption, regional and ecofair products.
